Maybelline Baby Lips

The lip blam that has taken the YouTubing, blogging and Instagram world by storm...

It has been weeks since the Maybelline Baby Lips were released in the UK for sale and these babies were definitely flying off the shelves. Luckily I managed to get my hands on some of the ones that interested me the most.

The Baby Lips come in Hydrate, Intense Care, Mint Fresh, Cherry Me, Pink Punch and Peach Kiss.

I am always on the lookout for new lip products that are good with moisturising and leave my lips smooth and soft and these had me at '8 hour protection and SPF 20' as I fly through lip balm and have a habit of applying it every hour or less! Anyway, the Maybelline website claims that Baby Lips offer intense lip care and 8 hours of hydration as well as leaving them baby soft.

I bought four Baby Lips (Hydrate, Mint Fresh, Intense Care and Cherry Me) and was really excited to start using them as I had seen so many people raving about them.

Let's start with the positives:

  1. The packaging is very fun and colourful.
  2. Nice selection of different balms to choose from.
  3. SPF 20
  4. The balm itself applies very smoothly and doesn't feel sticky, really thick or gloopy on the lips.

Now the negatives:

  1. The lip balm (like a lot of lip product claims) does not last 8 hours at all unless you were sat absolutely stationary, not talking, not eating, not drinking, basically not doing anything. I find that this lip balm barely lasts an hour on my lips actually.
  2. I don't feel the 'intense' moisture that the lip balm boasts and feel like it sits more on top of my lips rather than it actually 'sinking' in and being absorbed.
  3. The first few times I used my Baby Lips, my lips actually felt dryer than what they should feel like with a balm on them. I felt like I was applying it more frequently (that is hard as I do apply lip balm religiously during the day).
  4. Ingredients - Now I don't often fuss over the ingredients of all my products but I feel for something that is about to be absorbed into my lips and very close to my mouth, I would prefer more natural ingredients (saying that I don't think my favourite lip balm is all natural).

I was disappointed that they weren't as great for me as they are for some people but everyone reacts differently to different products so maybe other people may have more luck! I definitely will not be purchasing any more of these and will probably give the rest to a friend as I really do not see me using them.

Have you tried the Maybelline Baby Lips? What did you think?

  1. I've wanted to try baby lips for a while, but i think there's way too much unnecessary hype over it all!! same with the EOS lip balms... so much fuss but actually does nothing for my lips... disappointing when this happens, right?

    1. That is why I wanted to try them because of how hyped up they were but I was really disappointed.
I absolutely LOVE the EOS lip balms but haven't been able to get hold of one yet! lol I guess it is all about finding out what you like really.
Sometimes when a product is so over hyped about everyone thinks they are going to love it but they realise they don't haha. x
