MAC Punk Couture Matte Lipstick in Studded Kiss (Limited Edition)

I have gone on a real MAC bender lately since my first lipstick purchase when passing through duty free, am I sorry? Definitely not...

When I did my previous posts on all of the recent collections that MAC had bought out, I mention the Punk Couture collection (you can read that here) and confessed having my eyes on the matte lipstick in the shade Studded Kiss.

This was when I was on the market for a red lipstick specifically from MAC but didn't want a bright red and I didn't want a red too dark. I was looking at Russian Red but thought that may be a bit to bright and Ruby Woo was a beautiful colour but definitely too drying. When I saw swatches of Studded Kiss I knew that this was the red for me. I immediately went online to see if MAC had stocked up on it again and sadly they hadn't so I took to eBay and found a seller in New York who was selling brand new ones for only £16 or so plus p&p, could I resist? Obviously not. I was a bit sceptical because of all of these fake MAC products flying around but I am happy to report it is 100% real, I even took it into MAC and made sure haha!

If course this would have been the usual £15.00 if ordered off MAC's website but I paid a little bit extra.

So here it is!

Isn't it beautiful? The camera is showing up more red than it actually is as MAC describes it as as a "Dark Oxblood Red" which I definitely agree on. I wouldn't say it is the darkest red I have seen and it is nowhere as dark as say Rimmel Kate 107 in the tube but it doesn't have any of the berry purple tones that 107 does. It is just a beautiful pure crimson red, which is one of my favourite colours.

This is a very light swatch of the colour as it is really opaque and definitely super pigmented.
I was scared that because it was a matte it would be drying like Ruby Woo but I was surprised at how buttery it felt and how easy it was to glide on. I absolutely love the colour and think that this would suit many skin tones especially fairer ones which is sometimes hard to find with red. I love the way it compliments my blonde hair and green eyes and can definitely see me wearing this A LOT!

Again the colour is coming of a bit lighter on the camera because the lighting outside.
The only thing I will say is that you will need a mirror to apply this (unless you have super lipstick powers). I find because it is so smooth to apply it is harder to get a perfectly straight application but this is easily fixed with either a lip brush OR a red lip liner like MAC's Cherry or Beet (for a more purple red). I am actually surprised I don't have a MAC lip liner but I will definitely be investing in one to wear with colours like this for a more polished finish.

*If you wanted a standout lip colour (which I think this already is) you could opt for MAC's Nightmoth lip liner or Currant in order to create a really nice blended vampy ombre lip*

This is still sold out on the UK MAC website but there are definitely sellers out there that picked up a few and are selling them for a few extra £'s if you really had your heart set on it.

What do you think of the colour? Are you a red lip lover?
