Getting radiant with Mary-Lou Manizer

During Spring I like to add some radiance and life to my face. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it throughout most months but Spring is definitely where I step up my game.

I found Mary-Lou Manizer in December and ever since then we have become pretty close.
Yes I am referring to theBalm Cosmetics highlighter Mary-Lou Manizer - it is absolutely perfect for the warmer months coming in and is definitely a raved about product from bloggers to YouTubers, everybody loves Mary-Lou and I don't blame them.

Mary-Lou Manizer is described as a honey hued luminizer and although I agree about the slight honey hints, I would say it also has a champagne-y tone to it too. Granted it does look more yellow in these photos but in proper sunlight with no shadows it is more champagne with a slight honey tinge.

I never really thought I needed a highlighter as such and thought of it as just one more things I would have to put on my face but once you see the after effect and how much the smallest amount brightens up your face and creates a beautiful glow, the extra time in the morning is so so worth it (it takes all of about 30 seconds).

I absolutely love the packaging of theBalm Cosmetics products and this is no exception. This was my first product that I purchased from the brand and if it's anything to go by I know I wont be disappointed with the other products.

The texture is incredibly smooth and buttery, glides on perfectly and is extremely easy to apply (coming from someone who really isn't that great with contour and highlighting lol). If I could liken the texture to anything it would be the suede velvet-y feeling you get from the Urban Decay eyeshadows, that soft, non-chalky feeling.

The highlighter is very pigmented and that is no complaint! You really only need the tiniest amount to start with and then you can build it up as you go. I find this so easy when I want more of a subtle glow and then I'm able to build it up for more of a 'wow' factor in the evening or day. When using this I would definitely apply it lightly at first as I am sure with the amount of pigment  in it, that it can be overdone. I put a bit too much on my nose one day, went outside and looked a bit like a beacon of light, it wasn't an attractive look haha.

It is classed as a 3-in-1 product and claims you can use it all over the face as a finishing touch, all over the lids as an eyeshadow and as a shimmer to the cheeks. Personally I wouldn't use it all over the face as it does have a fair amount of shimmer in it but used as an eyeshadow - INCREDIBLE and used on the cheeks is beautiful.

I am really glad I decided to purchase this as the MUA Undress Me highlighter really doesn't compare although nice, this is stunning!

theBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer can be found at Feel Unique and retails for £16.

Do you own anything from theBalm? What do you think of highlighters?

  1. I've wanted this for ages, it's just so beautiful isn't it?! I have the MUA one, and it's so gritty and doesn't look very natural but I love how finely milled this looks - it's stunning! xxx

    1. I would definitely recommend it! I thought the MUA one would be similar but it isn't that great, it's alright for a quick look or something cheap but once you get this, oh my! It is so finely milled and so pigmented and beautiful! xxx

  5. HauteLook was having a sale on The Balm products and I considered buying this, but I couldn't decide between this luminizer (which is champagney) or the lighter luminizer (which is more of a whitish pink). It's good to know you recommend this one though! I will keep my eyes out next time I'm buying a highlighter. One I'm enjoying at the moment is Benefit's Watt's Up. It's a creamy consistency that comes in a roll up stick, but it's really lovely.

    1. They were having such a great sale! Benefits Watt's Up is very nice :) I think it is too shimmery and sheeny for my everyday use though that is why I love this one so much! x
