MAC Painterly Paint Pot

Another cult beauty product highly raved about amongst the masses but is this product really worth the hype?

Sorry for the dramatic entrance there but it's late and my mind does strange things when I am tired, I am sure we can all relate.

The MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly (£15.50) is a product I have heard so many great things about and decided to test for myself. I have really loved playing with the idea of cream bases underneath eyeshadows instead of a primer.

Painterly is a nude beige shade perfect to use for more than just an eyeshadow colour. The MAC Paint Pots claim to be long-wearing, colourfast, creaseless, lightweight and deliver an intense vibrant finish. There are twenty three shades that come in a variety of finishes such as cream, pearl, frost and satin which gives a really nice variety to choose from.

I decided on Painterly as it is the perfect colour to block out any redness or veins on my eyelids and really provides a blank canvas for the shadows I am about to lay down. I only went for a neutral shade as my main purpose for wanting one is to use it as a base but obviously if you wanted to use it as an eyeshadow than any of the colours look super alone or underneath eyeshadows!

I do find that by using the paint pot before my eyeshadows that it really brings out the colour of my eyeshadows as well as gripping them all day. I love that the paint pots dry fast and do not feel drying on the lids and definitely don't crease on mine. The longevity of my eyeshadow definitely improves when using Painterly and I find the formula really comfortable to wear and easy to apply.

I would definitely recommend trying the paint pots if you have been wondering about them as they really do give a lovely base and finish to the eyes.

Do you own any MAC Paint Pots? What do you think?

  3. It's great using something like this to neutralise you eyelid before the colours go on. I don't own any MAC versions but I find the Maybelline Colour Tattoos to be amazing x

  4. I think I am the only person who doesn't get on with Painterly! I find my eyeshadows crease after just 2-3hours on my oily lids with Painterly as a base, I have tried using it on top of a base but I find that it will still crease sooner than with a primer alone. I do love how it blocks out redness though so stick to using it on top of a primer when I know I am only going to be out for a short amount of time xx

    1. Oh NO! Luckily I don't have oily lids so maybe that has something to do with it? Atleast you are still able to use it and you are right it does such a great job of blocking out colour! :) xx
