NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl

So the NARS lip pencils are relatively new to me and even though I had heard a multitude of sterling reviews about them I never ventured to pick one up, until now..

I don't know where I have been but I may have been buried under the biggest bandwagon EVER.

If you watched (here) or read (here) about my London Birthday Haul then you would have noticed that this was one of my purchases from that day and because I love it so much already I couldn't wait any longer to review it. Especially now that we are coming into Autumn and I think Dragon Girl is going to be a winner for me throughout the season (as well as Winter, Spring and Summer).

The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl (£18) is the most gorgeous red, fuchsia, pink colour that sits right in the middle of everything perfect. It isn't too cool toned or too warm toned or too neutral toned - it is just everything I was searching for.

The formula of these is just unbeatable! Not only are they extremely pigmented in one quick swipe but because they are in a jumbo pencil form they are very very easy to apply precisely on the lips without getting some up your nostril and knee. The lasting power is like none other I own and before this wears down to a stain I can get at least five to six hours out of this particular shade.

The part that stands out to me is how beautiful they wear; they are not drying in the slightest which is what I usually expect from all matte formulas but these sit perfectly on the lips without feeling like you have just walked through the Sahara in the middle of a sand storm and considering I am a lip balm addict and do not like my lips being dry at all (it is one of my biggest pet peeves) this is a high claim to write but overall this is the best matte formula I have in my growing collection of lip products as well as the most comfortable and lightweight.

If you aren't hooked already then all you have to do is stare at the colour. It really is a knock-out and something I feel very comfortable wearing which can be hard with red shades.

Although on the higher end of the price spectrum I really do not think you can go wrong with these and it is my future plans to collect a lot more.

Do you own any of the NARS Velvet Matte Pencils? What do you think?

  1. The formula has been so raved about, and that shade is so stunningly eye-catching! I recently got my hands on one of their Satin Lip pencils and wow whee, it is so amazing. Definitely want to add a matte one to my collection.
