Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

I can't explain the instant magnetism to Hourglass products and the Ambient Lighting Palette is no exception! I have had my hands on this gorgeous product for awhile and thought it was time I shared thoughts.

Let's be honest, I could have put this review up so much sooner as I have had this palette for awhile but whilst we are on the honestly train - I couldn't bring myself to use it for the first three weeks and instead just looked at it. Does anyone else have this feeling over makeup? I have wanted the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette (£56) for the longest time so when it finally arrived I was more than excited to use it but gah, look how gorgeous this thing is!

The Ambient Lighting Palette features three shades of the popular Ambient Lighting Powders in Dim Light, Incandescent Light (an exclusive to this palette) and Radiant Light. The powders use "photoluminescent technology" to diffuse, brighten, soften and conceal imperfections, pores and fine lines and basically put the finishing touches on any makeup look whilst leaving your skin looking radiant.

Dim Light is a neutral beige toned shade and the only one in this palette that doesn't contain any shimmer making it perfect for setting the face. It does a really good job at setting foundations without looking too cakey or overly powdery. I find this gives a really beautiful 'blurred' look to the face and does help with the big pores around my nose whilst Incandescent Light is used as a highlighter as it has the most shimmer out of the bunch a long with a pinkish tone to it. The highlighter is very flattering and although there are bigger shimmer particles in it, it doesn't really transfer to the face that way - it just gives a really gorgeous multi-dimensional look to wherever it is applied. Lastly you have Radiant Light which is a really pretty golden bronzey shade and helps add a bit of colour and definition to the face without looking unnatural. This is really lovely to use for the 'sun-kissed' glow effect and a little goes a long way!

Summed up I think this palette is a great starting point if like myself you don't have a huge stash of setting powders, highlighters and bronzers. It is really compact and travel friendly and considering all of the powders work well together or alone I think it is a really good investment. I am so glad I finally got my hands on this and can see why so many people love it!

What do you think? Do you own the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette? Is it worth the hype?

  1. This is beautiful and it has also been on my wish list for the longest time ever! But I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on it, maybe I will eventually treat myself in the new year! I love the shades and the fact that there is a setting powder, a highlighter and a light bronzer all in the one palette x

  3. Damn you're making me jealous! I didn't buy it as people were saying some of the shades aren't good for pale skin tones :( I use diffused light every day!

    1. That is a shame! I am NW10 in MAC so pretty fair and these suit me absolutely fine. They all go almost transparent on the face anyway when the light reflect. The setting powder is a great shade match for me and the bronzer shade can be built up or left sheer :) xx
