Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Cheek Gelée

Have you ever wondered what a Cheek Gelée would be like? Probably not but let me tell you why you are missing out!

I was so intrigued by this product and lured in by the name alone and never usually venture out of the powder blush comfort zone so I thought it was about time to do so. The Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée ($22) is a blush hybrid and as the name would suggest made out of coconut water.

Josie Maran, in a moment of genius, created this innovative blush which blends 50% pure coconut water with vitamin E rich Argan Oil. Once applied this blush hydrates and nourishes the cheeks for up to 14 hours whilst providing a beautiful healthy glow of colour too; think of a natural flush whilst being on a tropical island! I have never tried anything like this and now that I have, I just can't get enough of it.

Granted, it may have taken me some time to get to grips with what works best for application but I find my Real Techniques Stippling Brush works perfectly and distributes the colour evenly onto the cheeks without too much added fuss.

Josie Maran has eight colours of the cheek gelée ranging from peach, pink, red, plum and neutral brown. I decided on the shade Pink Escape which is described as a 'cool toned pink' and I think it works well with my fair complexion and can imagine it would work well on a variety of skin tones. At first the colour looks quite daunting and bright but I have found that starting off sheer and building it up slowly is the best way forward - less is more with this one!

The Cheek Gelée's are formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates and are also gluten free, cruelty free and vegan!

This is a beautiful, beautiful product and if you can get your hands on it I would highly recommend trying it.

Have you ever tried this product? What are your thoughts?

  1. I got my hands on Poppy Paradise recently and absolutely adore it! I use the RT stippling brush too and they just blend so effortlessly and give a beautiful translucent flush!

    1. They really are! I love it all year around especially when my skin is on the dry side as this doesn't cake on it. If I put too much on its a pretty bad situation lol as it stains so quickly and is hard to correct but I looooove it too much haha xx
